Your iPhone photos.
In folders. On your Mac.
Back up iPhone and iPad photos to your Mac, with every album as a folder.
Plug in, tick, back up. Original files, Live Photos and edits are kept, and next time only new photos are copied. That’s it.
Three steps. No learning curve.
No settings to understand, and no library to manage. Just your photos, copied into folders you can open in Finder.
Plug in your iPhone or iPad
Connect it to your Mac with a USB cable. Unlock it and tap “Trust” the first time. MySimpleBackup finds it straight away.
Tick what you want
Your Camera Roll and albums appear in the sidebar with thumbnails. Keep everything ticked, or pick just the albums you want.
Back up
Choose a folder on your Mac or an external drive. You see what will be copied before anything starts.
Everything kept, exactly as it was
Your photos come off the device untouched, organised the way you already organised them.
Albums become folders
Each album gets its own folder, and folders of albums become nested folders. Photos in several albums appear in each one.
Original files, never converted
HEIC, JPEG, PNG, HEVC and more are copied byte for byte, at full quality, exactly as they are stored on the device.
Live Photos stay live
The photo and its video are saved side by side with matching names, so nothing about the moment is lost.
Edits and originals
Edited a photo on your iPhone? You get the original and the edited version, next to each other.
The right dates
Every file’s created and modified dates are set to when the photo was taken, so sorting by date in Finder just works.
Only new photos next time
MySimpleBackup remembers what it has already copied. Later backups only add what’s new, in seconds when nothing has changed.
Nothing is ever deleted
It never changes anything on your device, and never overwrites or removes anything already in your backup.
Private by design
No iCloud and no Photos app needed. Your photos go straight from the cable to your folder and nowhere else.
Hidden photos, your choice
Photos in your Hidden album are left out unless you tick them, and then they go into their own separate folder.
Plain folders you can take anywhere
No proprietary library and no special viewer. Your backup is ordinary files in ordinary folders, so it opens in Finder today and still will in twenty years.
- Browse it in Finder, Preview or any photo app
- Keep it on an external drive, or copy it to a NAS
- Run the next backup into the same folder, wherever it now lives
Tip: use a Thunderbolt or 10 Gb/s USB-C cable
iPhone 15 Pro and later Pro models, and iPads with USB 3, can connect at up to 10 Gb/s with a Thunderbolt or 10 Gb/s USB-C data cable. The charging cable in the box, and most charging cables, connect at USB 2 speed (480 Mb/s).
Any cable works, and a slow cable only makes the first backup take longer. Later backups only copy new photos.
One price. Yours to keep.
No subscription and no upsells. Pay once and back up as often as you like.

Guides
Practical how-tos for getting your iPhone and iPad photos onto a Mac.
Questions
Does MySimpleBackup change or delete anything on my iPhone?
No. MySimpleBackup only reads from your iPhone or iPad. It never changes, moves or deletes anything on the device.
Do I need iCloud or the Photos app?
No. Everything happens over the USB cable between your device and your Mac, and your photos never leave your Mac. The only thing we ask for is your email address, to send your trial or licence.
Can I back up to an external drive?
Yes. Choose any folder on your Mac or on an external drive. The backup is plain files and folders, so you can also move it later.
What happens if I delete photos from my iPhone later?
They stay in your backup. MySimpleBackup is backup-only: it adds new photos and never deletes or overwrites anything already in the backup.
I use “Optimise iPhone Storage”. Will everything be backed up?
Only photos that are actually stored on your device can be copied. With Optimise iPhone Storage turned on, some full-size originals may only be in iCloud. MySimpleBackup tells you how many items aren’t on the device before you start.
Why not just use Image Capture or the Photos app?
Image Capture copies files, but not your albums. The Photos app imports into its own library rather than plain folders. MySimpleBackup gives you ordinary folders that mirror your albums, with Live Photos and edits kept together.
A photo is in two albums. What happens?
It’s copied into both album folders, as real files, so each folder is complete on its own. It’s only downloaded from your device once.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The free trial does everything the full version does, for your first 100 photos and videos. A Live Photo, together with its video and any edited version, counts as one. Enter your email to get your free trial key and the download. When you’re happy, buy a licence to back up the rest.
Can I get a refund?
Because you can try it free first, purchases are final once your licence is activated. If you haven’t activated it yet, you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund. If MySimpleBackup doesn’t work with your device or as described, email us and we’ll fix it or refund you. See the Refund Policy.
What happens when a new version comes out?
Your licence covers MySimpleBackup 2026 and all of its updates, including support for new versions of iOS and iPadOS. If we release a new edition, such as MySimpleBackup 2027, we’ll tell you whether it’s a free or paid upgrade. Either way, your 2026 licence never expires.
Does it work on Intel Macs or Windows?
MySimpleBackup is built for Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs and Windows aren’t supported at the moment.
